Diamond Watches

Diamonds have been used in luxury jewellery for centuries thanks to their stunning light-catching effect, and this extends to premium luxury watches where they have proven to be just as popular. Many top brands have incorporated these dazzling stones into their work, not just on elegant ladies’ watches but unisex and men’s pieces, too.

Often, top watchmakers even have their own dedicated gem-setting and cutting departments where experts go through the painstaking process of sourcing, selecting, cutting and, finally, setting the stones in place to create a beautifully finished timepiece. Some watchmakers have even started to grow their own diamonds to create what’s known as “lab grown diamonds”.

There are various types of diamond watches available. Some are set with just a few diamonds—serving as the hour markers, for example. Or they can cover a watch completely, from the dial and bezel to the case and bracelet, creating what’s often referred to as an “iced-out” watch.

Top watchmakers such as Audemars Piguet are known for their expertise in diamond-setting, creating a selection of stunning AP diamond watches including numerous dazzling Royal Oak models. Their spectacular Diamond Outrage Haute Joaillerie model, valued at $1.25million, was famously worn by brand ambassador Serena Williams at New York’s annual MET Gala. Richard Mille diamond watches are also some of the more remarkable pieces on the market, combining these precious gemstones with unorthodox high-tech case materials and their signature rubber or fabric straps. Hublot diamond watches take a similar approach, combining the gems with, for example, ceramic cases.

Patek Philippe diamond watches are perennially popular, with jewel-studded Nautiluses particularly sought after. What’s more, diamond-set watches tend to be rarer—whatever the brand—meaning they are more desirable than timepieces without them.

The dials of Rolex diamond watches where the hour markers have been replaced with diamonds (and other gems) are commonly known as “serti” dials, which is short for “sertissage”, which means “gem-setting” in French, although it’s literal meaning is “crimping”.

Here at Watchfinder, we’re pleased to offer a huge choice of pre-owned diamond watches decorated with this enduringly popular gemstone. From Breitling diamond watches to Omega diamond watches, you can find a diamond-set watch from all your favourite brands.
